A community project in Ingatestone has reached a major milestone with the successful installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, paving the way for not only a greener future but also an economical one.  

The solar installation - supported by Essex County Council’s Energy team, Brentwood Borough Council and Rochford District Council - is only phase one of the Ingatestone and Fryerning Parish Council’s Community Energy Project. The panels will generate clean, renewable energy for Seymour Field Pavilion whilst significantly reducing operating costs and are expected to pay for themselves in just six years.   

Parish Council Chairman Paul Jeater described the project as “the first steps towards creating a wider community energy generation,” with plans to build a Community Energy Group. 

The project will be officially launched on 16th September at a community event, and everyone is welcome. Residents will have the opportunity to learn more about the solar installation, community energy and plans for future renewable energy. The event will also raise awareness about the emerging Brentwood Community Energy initiative, which aims to support community-led energy projects across the borough.  

This successful project highlights the growing role communities can play in delivering local clean energy and building a more sustainable future for Essex.
