The Essex Climate Action Commission was originally set up by Essex County Council in 2020. It is now an independent body Chaired by Professor Jules Pretty.
The Commission consists of over 30 commissioners, each with varying backgrounds across the public, private and third sectors, as well as academia – information regarding each of the Commissioners can be found here.
Role of the Commission
The Essex Climate Action Commission will:
- Identify ways where the county can mitigate the effects of climate change, improve air quality, reduce waste across Essex and increase the amount of green infrastructure and biodiversity in the county.
- Explore how we attract investment in natural capital and low carbon growth.
We will do this by drawing on in-house expertise, commissioning research and forming new external partnerships.
