Chelmsford, Colchester and Uttlesford
  • Chelmsford, Colchester and Uttlesford will be encouraging developers to build to zero-carbon standard by encouraging renewable energy measures.
  • Colchester will investigate the opportunity for the Council to lead the way on its own forthcoming developments, where appropriate, such as Amphora led developments and the Garden Communities, as these provide opportunities to become exemplars of sustainable building and carbon neutrality.
  • Colchester will explore opportunities to develop and adopt shared standards with neighbouring authorities to provide consistency and set expectations on development across the county.
  • By the end of 2030 all of Willmott Dixon Construction's new buildings and major refurbishments will achieve net zero operational carbon.
  • Willmott Dixon Construction will halve the volume of water it uses during construction.

Retrofitting

Chelmsford, Colchester and Uttlesford
  • Chelmsford, Colchester and Uttlesford will be encouraging developers to retrofitting existing buildings, and where possible encourage renewable energy measures.
Harlow
  • Harlow will develop a strategy which looks at the feasibility of installing photovoltaic panels on all public council buildings within the next two years where possible.
Uttlesford
  • Uttlesford plans to ensure flood alleviation for communities that flood and intends for any new development to be built with Sustainable Urban Drainage Schemes, with no new homes built in flood plains.
  • By the end of 2040 all of Willmott Dixon Construction's buildings and major refurbishments will be delivered with net zero embodied carbon and its supply chain will achieve net zero operational carbon.
